He made the commercial into art.

Andy Warhol is the defining figure of American Pop Art. He is the artist who made the clearest statement that there was no longer a meaningful distinction between commercial imagery and fine art. His Marilyns and Soup Cans and Disaster series were not celebrations of consumer culture. They were investigations of it, using its own tools.

Warhol appears in the Lift Trucks artist section because our studio holds an original, one-of-a-kind photograph of him that has been included in exhibitions at the space. His presence reflects that direct archival connection to the collection and exhibition history of Lift Trucks

The inclusion is not about representation or estate affiliation. It documents a real moment in time and the historical figure it captured.

“Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art.”
