About This Exhibition
Photography that asks
what the body knows about place.
Emily Neville Fisher is a Westchester-based photographer and visual artist whose work explores the relationship between human figures and the natural landscape. Her large-format photographs place people within environments that dwarf, cradle, and sometimes absorb them — asking, quietly, what it means to be a body in a world that was here long before you and will be here long after.
“Her work has the patience that all serious photography requires — and the courage to let the land speak first.”
Tom Christopher · Lift Trucks Art
Fisher’s images resist the editorial. They are slow photographs — made with care and intention, not speed. The figures in her work are present but not dominant. The landscape is not background. The relationship between the two is the subject.
Fisher is part of a generation of Westchester artists who have built serious, sustained practices outside the Manhattan gallery system. Her work at Lift Trucks Art represents that tradition: independent, rigorous, made in place, and presented directly to the people who live in the same landscape it depicts.
